Description
Lane End Farmhouse is a farmhouse that dates back to the 16th century, with alterations and extensions made in the 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries. The building is constructed of brick, with one end gable being timber framed and filled with brick. It features an old tile roof that is both gabled and hipped. The farmhouse is designed in an L-shape, with an outshot and a stair turret at the rear where the two wings meet. It has two storeys and a chimney located on the ridge.
The road-facing side has a cement plinth, brick oversailing, and toothed eaves. There are three irregular bays featuring late 18th-century three-light casement windows, with the central window having two panes and side lights of one pane each. On the ground floor, there are similar windows, but the middle bay includes a large square 19th-century bay with a four-light casement and one return light. To the right of this bay, there is a 20th-century entrance door set in a stone surround. The windows are topped with rubbed brick segmental arches.
