Description
Church Farmhouse is a farmhouse that has been converted into a house. It dates back to the early 15th century, was rebuilt in the late 16th century, and underwent alterations in the 20th century. The structure features a timber frame with brick infill and part painted brick, topped with an old tiled half hipped roof. The building has a rectangular plan consisting of three framed bays and stands two storeys high with an attic. It has two large chimneys, one at each end; the right chimney is older and features an inglenook, with both chimneys rebuilt at the top. The windows are irregular 19th-century casements with two lights and glazing bars, set within the framing. There is a plain entrance door located on the northwest gable.
Inside, most of the timber frame is visible, showcasing three large moulded beams on the ground floor. The joists between these beams are chamfered with stopped ends, while the joists in the northwest bay are plain. The staircase leading to the first floor is from the 16th century and features a large moulded handrail, large turned balusters (some of which have been re-set), and large square carved newel posts.
