Description
The Thatch is a cottage dating from the late 16th century, with alterations made in the 19th and 20th centuries. It is timber framed with painted brick infill and features a thatched gabled roof. The building has a rectangular plan consisting of two framed bays and a tiled pent roof extension at the rear. It stands two storeys tall with an attic and has two chimneys.
The south front displays a scattered arrangement of fenestration, including two and three-light leaded casements set within the timber framing, along with two small two-light casement dormers in the thatch. There is a 20th-century entrance door in the center and a small single light window at mezzanine level on the left side. An old fire insurance plaque, numbered 427828, is mounted on the center post at first-floor level. Inside, many timbers are exposed, and there is an inglenook chimney on the east gable. The cottage was once known as Susanna Halliday's Cottage.
