Description
The Swan Inn is a cottage that has been converted into a public house. It dates from the early 16th century and has been altered in the 18th and 19th centuries. The building features a mix of timber framing with painted brick infill and sections that are entirely painted brick, topped with an old tile gabled roof. It has a rectangular plan with four framed bays and a 19th-century extension that is at right angles to the main block. The building stands two storeys high, with a square chimney located to the north of the centre on the ridge and another to the south.
The road-facing side has three bays of three-light casement windows, with the ground floor windows featuring segmental heads. The entrance doors are situated between the outer and centre bays, with the door on the right set within a 19th-century gabled wood porch. Inside, the first floor reveals visible framing, including queen post and queen strut trusses, along with straight wind braces. A portion of the original wattle and daub has been preserved and left exposed within a frame as a notable feature.
