Description
The Lodge to the Meteorological Office is a building that originally dates from the late 18th century and was extended in the 19th century, with alterations made in the 20th century. It is constructed of rendered brick and features a hipped slate roof. The building has a rectangular plan and includes a 19th-century service wing on the south side. It stands two storeys tall and has three chimneys that are irregularly spaced on the roof.
The east front of the Lodge has a narrow cornice supported by pairs of cut brackets. It features five bays of sash windows, with the ground floor windows lacking glazing bars. The central entrance consists of a six-panelled door topped by an arched radiating and weathered fanlight, which is sheltered by a 19th-century Doric porch supported by pairs of columns and an entablature.
