Description
The Convent of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart, located at No. 22 High Street in Carisbrooke, features a front that appears to date from the late 18th century. The building is finished with cement rendering and has wide eaves, with pilastered ends. It stands two storeys tall, with four upper windows and a ground floor that includes one window and a five-light sash window. There are late extensions on the west side. A notable feature is the projecting porch, which is supported by slender composite columns and adorned with fine dentils and modillions, topped with a pediment that has a fluted tympanum. The roof is covered with old tiles and has an added finial.
