Description
Larkrise is a pair of attached cottages, now functioning as one house, dating from around the mid-19th century. The building is constructed of stone rubble, featuring dressed stone for the window and door frames as well as the quoins. It has a slate roof with gabled ends and a brick axial stack located at the center.
The exterior is two storeys high with a symmetrical south front that has two windows. The first-floor windows are two-light casements with glazing bars. There are doorways on the left and right, each with a plank door. Integral outshuts with lean-to roofs are present on both gable ends. At the rear, there are only windows in the outshuts, which are small single-light casements.
Inside, the 19th-century joinery remains intact, including plank doors and winder stairs next to the axial stack. The left center room features an iron range in the fireplace, surrounded by a simple wooden surround.
