Description

Numbers 41 and 42 are terraced houses built around 1825. Number 41 is finished in stucco, while Number 42 is constructed from purplish brick in Flemish bond, with its bay faced in mathematical tiles. The roofs are obscured by a parapet, and both houses rise three storeys over a basement, each featuring two windows. Access to the properties is via round-arched entrances, although the fanlights are blocked. To the left of each entrance, there is a bay; Number 41 has a canted bay that stops just short of the parapet, while Number 42 has a segmental bay that extends to full height. All bay windows are tripartite and flat arched. The sashes on Number 42 have been rebuilt to their original designs and the house was restored in the late 20th century. A cast-iron balcony, which is segmental in plan, is present on the first floor of the bay for Number 42 only. To the right of each bay, in the entrance range, there are blocked camber-arched windows on the first and second floors, with Number 42 featuring lintels made of gauged brick. Both houses have stacks located on the party walls. The interior has not been inspected, and railings are present only at the area of Number 41.
