Description

Number 39 is a terraced house dating from circa 1825, located in Egremont Place, Brighton. The house is constructed of stucco, with the roof hidden behind a parapet. It is three storeys high, with a basement, and has a two-window front. A flight of steps leads to a round-arched entrance, which has a blocked fanlight and architrave, interrupted by a vermiculated keystone. To the left of the entrance is a full-height segmental bay with tripartite, flat-arched windows. A balcony with cast-iron railings, in an intersecting Gothic arch pattern, and cast-iron brackets is present on the first floor only, with a segmental plan. To the right of the bay, within the entrance range, is a single blocked, camber-arched window with a projecting sill on the first and second floors. Both the camber-arched window on the second floor and the ground-floor bay windows have vermiculated keystones to their lintels. Stacks are situated on the party wall. The interior of the property has not been inspected.
