Description

Numbers 7 to 10 Egremont Place are a group of four terraced houses dating to circa 1815. They are constructed of stucco, with a parapet concealing the roof. The buildings are three storeys high, with a half basement. Each house has a single window front. A staircase leads to a segmental-arched entrance which features a fanlight with decorative glazing bars. To the right of each entrance is a full-height segmental bay, with the exception of the first floor of number 10, where the bay is canted. The bays contain tripartite windows; the ground- and second-floor sashes in numbers 7, 9, and 10 are of original design, with 4 x 4 panes to the side windows and 6 x 6 panes to the centre windows. The first-floor sashes in numbers 7 to 9 are also of original design, with 4 x 8 panes to the side windows and 6 x 12 panes to the centre windows. A cornice terminates the bay of number 7. Giant Tuscan pilasters rise from the first to the second floors at the party walls between numbers 8 and 10. An entablature and parapet are present on all but number 9. Numbers 7 to 9 have a cast-iron balcony, segmental in plan, to the first floor of the bay only. Number 8 has a rectangular cast-iron balcony across the entire first floor. Stacks are located in the party walls. The interior was not inspected. Cast-iron railings are present to the stairs and areas.
