Description

Number 30 and attached railings is a terraced house located on Cannon Place in Brighton, dating from around 1820. The building is constructed of stucco and features a roof that is obscured by a parapet. It stands four storeys high over a basement, with one window range facing Cannon Place and three window ranges on St Margaret's Place.

The ground floor is decorated with banded rustication, and there is a flat-arched entrance in an enclosed porch on St Margaret's Place. This entrance includes an overlight with decorative glazing and a panelled door of original design. All windows are flat-arched, and there is a segmental bay on the ground, first, and second floors facing Cannon Place, which features tripartite windows. The first-floor windows serve as French windows that open onto a bracketed balcony with replacement railings.

On the St Margaret's Place side, the first and second floor windows are flanked by Ionic pilasters, and all windows on this front lack architraves. The westernmost window on all floors is blank. There is a cornice at the second floor, along with a secondary cornice and parapet. Additionally, No. 1 St Margaret's Place is a single-storey extension that appears to have been recently reworked, featuring rustication and segmental-arched openings.

The property includes cast-iron railings at No. 30 Cannon Place, which have conical finials. The interior has not been inspected.
