Description

Number 39 is a terraced house located on Hampton Place in Brighton, dating from the early 19th century. The building is constructed of stucco, with its roof obscured by a parapet. It has two storeys over basements and features a three-window range, being double-fronted. All windows are flat-arched. There are steps leading up to a flat-arched entrance, which is framed by a deep, round-arched architrave that aligns with the banded rustication of the ground floor.

On either side of the entrance, there are two-storey segmental bays with tripartite windows. The first-floor windows retain their original design, featuring a central window with six panes by six panes, sidelights with two panes by two panes, and another six panes by six panes in the centre window. The building also has a moulded storey band, a cornice, a parapet, and side stacks. The northern return facing Montpelier Terrace consists of a three-window range, but most windows are blank except for the two westernmost on the ground floor.

The interior has not been inspected. The property features cast-iron railings leading to the steps and area, adorned with spearhead finials.
