Description
Numbers 1 and 2 are a pair of early to mid-19th century terraced houses in Hampton Terrace, Brighton. The houses are constructed of stucco, with their roofs hidden behind a parapet. They are two storeys high with a half-basement, each having a single window. Steps lead to a flat-arched entrance, which has a tented canopy, likely not original, and an overlight. A two-storey canted bay window features sash windows of original design, with those on the first floor extended down to floor level. A bracketed balcony is located on the first floor, supported by a cast-iron balustrade and a tented canopy with valence. A cornice and blocking course run along the top of the façade. Chimney stacks are situated on the party walls between the houses. The interior has not been inspected. Cast-iron railings are present on the steps leading to the entrance. Garden walls are topped with moulded coping and include rusticated and pedimented gate piers.
