Description
Black Jack's Cottage is a 17th century or earlier timber-framed building that stands two storeys high and consists of two bays, with a long lean-to structure on the right side. The cottage features a thatched roof, with visible posts, floor plates, and ties, and brick filling. The lean-to is entirely made of brick. The windows are modern small-paned casements, with one on the ground floor to the right set under a cambered brick arch. On the left side of the building, a first-floor beam shows tenon holes, suggesting that the cottage was once longer. A large compound brick chimney stack from the 17th century, adorned with a cornice in several planes, is also a notable feature.
