Description

  1. 5018 BLACK JACK'S LOCK (North Side) HAREFIELD Black Jack's Cottage TQ 0490 4/21 II 2. C17 or earlier timber framed building now of 2 storeys, 2 bays, with long lean-to at right. Thatched roof. Visible posts, floor plates and ties, with brick filling. Lean-to entirely of brick. Modern small-paned casement windows, that on ground floor right under cambered brick arch. On left return 1st floor beam shows tenon holes, indicating that the building was once longer. Large compound C17 brick chimney stack with cornice in several planes.
