Description
Harefield Park is a large house dating from the early to mid-18th century, now serving as a staff hostel for Harefield Hospital. The building stands three storeys tall and features seven windows. It is constructed of stucco and has a parapet. The 19th-century sash windows, which do not have glazing bars, are adorned with moulded architraves. A semi-circular, one-storey projecting bay is located on the south side, while the north side has a full-height projection that is partly screened by a single-storey attached range surrounding a small courtyard.
Inside, there is a panelled hall with Corinthian pilasters leading to a shallow rise staircase, which is enhanced by delicate spiral twist balusters. The interior also includes additional panelling, many original doors, and shutters. On the first floor, a very high ballroom features complete panelling with early painted wood-graining, tall round-arched windows, a bolection moulded frieze, and a flat marble fireplace surround. The one-storey range around the courtyard is situated to the north.
Harefield Park, along with its walls and stable blocks, forms a cohesive group.
