Description
This is a pair of houses, numbers 3 and 5 Shooters Hill Road, built in the mid-19th century. They are located on the north side of the road and are part of a group that includes numbers 1 to 37 (the odd numbers), along with gate piers and walls up to number 1.
The houses are three storeys high with a basement, each featuring three windows. The central bays are set back, providing entrances. They have moderately pitched, hipped slate roofs with deep eaves featuring brackets. A raised section of the roof is situated above the central portion. The houses are constructed of yellow brick, with a rusticated stucco finish on the ground floor and basement. Cill strings run across the first and second floors. Sash windows with margin lights are set within moulded architraves. The ground and first floor windows have bracketed cills, while those on the first floor also feature a frieze and cornice. The centre section contains round arched windows. The entrances are recessed within simple paired porches with a modified entablature and parapet, leading to half-glazed double doors via a flight of eight steps. The houses are of group value due to their cohesive appearance with the surrounding properties.
