Description

Kirklands, now the Lady Edith Marsh Nursing Home, is a building dating from the 19th century. It is three storeys high with a basement, and has four windows across the front. The exterior is stuccoed, with a cornice and parapet concealing the roof. Horizontal bands run at the level of the first and second floor window sills. The sash windows have been replaced, but are set within moulded architraves. A balcony runs along the entire front at ground floor level, supported by stuccoed piers. An elaborate cast iron rail and cast iron columns support a swept lead canopy over the balcony. A single-storey entrance extension on the left-hand side features a half-glazed door with a plain fanlight, set within a round arched porch. Nos 9 to 16 form a group.
