37, Shooters Hill Road Se3

No 37 on Shooters Hill Road is a mid-19th century villa that stands two storeys tall with a basement and features three windows. The building has a hipped slate roof with a moderate pitch and eaves soffit. Its exterior is finished in stucco and is supported by four giant pilasters with ornamental capitals that rest on a basement plinth and support a frieze. The central bay of the villa is recessed, and the first-floor side windows have plain reveals. The central window has a shouldered surround with paterae in the head beneath the cornice.

The ground floor windows are framed by a modified entablature surround with palmette-patterned brackets that support a cornice. Access to the central prostyle porch is via five steps; the porch features square columns with paterae in the capitals, an entablature, and a blocking course. The entrance includes a six-panel door flanked by side pilasters, topped with a cornice head and a semicircular fanlight. All windows are fitted with glazing bars and margin lights. At the time of the survey, the building was noted to be empty and decaying.

This villa is part of a group that includes Nos 1 to 37 (odd), as well as the gatepiers and walls to No 1.
