Description

This is a villa, dating from around 1840, constructed with a stucco façade and situated on a plinth. It has three storeys and a semi-basement. The roof is slate, with a low pitch and overhanging eaves. A two-storey entrance bay is set back to the west. The front has three recessed sash windows to each floor, with glazing bars. The first-floor window is round-headed, and the second floor has one blind window. A porch with Doric pilasters, a frieze, cornice, and blocking course is situated in front of the entrance. There is a blind window above the porch, and the modern front door is set back within its original moulded doorcase. The north side, facing the Esplanade, also has flanking pilasters and a moulded string course to the second floor. Two windows are present on the second floor, with three on the other floors; two of these are arranged in a bow to the east. The basement windows lack glazing bars and have architrave surrounds. All upper-floor windows have architrave surrounds and block sills. The villa forms a group with numbers 1 to 7 and 9 to 20 on the Strand.
