Description
Numbers 34 and 36 are a pair of semi-detached houses built between 1841 and 1843, developed by C.H. Hill. The houses are constructed of yellow brick and stucco, with a slate roof. They rise three storeys above a basement, with each house featuring two bays. The basement is stuccoed, and there are steps leading up to the entrance, which is flanked by cast-iron railings. The entrance includes pilasters with elaborately decorated capitals, a cornice supported by consoles, a panelled door of original design, and an overlight. All windows are flat-arched with gauged-brick heads and original sashes, and there are cast-iron window-guards on the first-floor windows. The division between the two houses is marked by a vertical sunken panel that is one brick deep. The eaves are enclosed, and the party wall is expressed above the roof, supporting a central stack. The roof is hipped. There are 20th-century extensions on the side of number 34 and set back on the side of number 36.
