Description
Numbers 31 and 33 are semi-detached houses built between 1841 and 1843, developed by C.H. Hill. They are constructed of yellow brick and stucco, with a slate roof. The houses are two storeys above a basement, with number 33 featuring a dormer in the attic. Each house is two bays wide, and the porch is located in a two-storey bay that is set back at the side. The basement is stuccoed, while the ground floor has two round-arched windows with gauged brick heads, a stucco keystone, and original radiating glazing bars in number 31. There is a stucco band between the floors. The first floor has flat-arched windows with sashes of original design. Steps lead up to a single-storey porch with cast-iron railings on one side, an architrave, and an overlight; the rear of the porch has been rebuilt to two storeys on both houses. The eaves are enclosed, and there are stacks on the party wall. The roof is hipped, with a dormer on number 33. There is a 20th-century extension on the side of number 33.
