Description
NUMBER 45, 47 AND 49 AND ATTACHED RAILINGS
These are a group of three terraced houses dating to the 1850s, located on Canonbury Park South in Islington. They are constructed of yellow brick and stucco, with slate roofs. Each house is two bays wide and three storeys high, with a basement level. The houses are separated by a vertical panel, one brick deep, sunk into the facade.
The basement is stuccoed, and steps lead to the original entrances, bracketed by original railings. Each entrance has a stucco architrave with a cornice supported on consoles, and an overlight. The original panelled doors remain at numbers 45 and 47. All windows are flat-arched with gauged-brick heads and have sash windows with margin lights; the first and second-floor windows are slightly offset from the basement and ground-floor openings. There is an angled brick cornice and enclosed eaves. The party walls are expressed above the roofline and carry chimney stacks. The roofs are hipped, with dormers on numbers 47 and 49. A single-story extension has been added to the rear of number 45.
