Description
53 and 55 Canonbury Park South are semi-detached houses built around 1845, developed by C.H. Hill. They are constructed from yellow brick and stucco, with a slate roof. Each house has two storeys above a basement and is two bays wide. The basement is stuccoed, and there are steps leading up to the entrance, which features an architrave, a cornice supported by consoles, a panelled door, and an overlight. The inner bay of each house protrudes slightly from the wall by the thickness of one brick. All windows are flat-arched with gauged-brick heads and sashes that include margin lights. Both houses have cast-iron window guards on the ground floor windows. The cornice is made of angled bricks, and the eaves are enclosed. The party wall is visible above the roof and supports a central stack. The roof is hipped, with dormers on both houses. There are round-arched first-floor windows on the sides of both houses, with the window on number 55 featuring radiating glazing bars.
