Description

Numbers 46 and 48 are a pair of semi-detached houses built between 1841 and 1843 as part of a development by C.H. Hill. They are constructed of yellow brick and stucco, with slate roofing. Each house is two bays wide and has two storeys over a basement. The basement is stuccoed, and the windows are flat-arched with gauged-brick heads. A stucco band separates the floors, and the first-floor windows have original sash glazing. Steps lead up to a single-storey porch at number 46, featuring cast-iron railings, pilasters, a plain entablature, and an overlight. The porch at number 48 has balusters alongside the steps, a plain entablature, and an overlight, and has been rebuilt to two storeys. The eaves are enclosed with a central decorative bracket, and the party walls are visible above the roofline, supporting a central stack. The roof is hipped, with dormers on both houses. Attached cast-iron railings run alongside the property.
