Description

These are a pair of semi-detached houses located on Canonbury Park North, built between 1841 and 1843 as part of a development by C.H. Hill. They are constructed of yellow brick with stucco detailing and have slate roofs. Each house is two bays wide, with a sunken panel separating them. The basement is stuccoed, and the ground-floor windows have round arches with gauged-brick heads and radiating glazing bars to number 58. A stucco band marks the division between the ground and first floors. The first-floor windows are flat-arched with original sash windows. A side entrance to number 56 features pilasters, a plain entablature, a panelled door, and an overlight; the side entrance to number 58 has been rebuilt as a two-storey wing, flanked by a balustrade. Decorative brackets support the eaves. The party wall extends above the roofline and supports a central stack. Dormers are present on both houses.
