Terraced houses. 1841-3. Developed by C.H.Hill. Yellow brick, stucco and roof of slate. The group is arranged as a central block, no 57, three storeys high and three bays wide, with nos 55 and 59 as wings, two storeys high with two bays to the street and porches set back at the side. Basement stuccoed; no 57 has steps up to central entrance with pilasters, entablature and cornice on consoles, panelled door and overlight. Flat-arched windows with stucco architraves to either side and to the two storeys above; nos 55 and 59 have round-arched windows to ground floor with architraves, and flat-arched windows to the first floor. Side porches have steps up with pilasters, entablatures and overlights; original panelled door to no 59; both porches have been rebuilt to two storeys. Stucco band between ground and first floor, cornice with bracket to boxed eaves. Hipped roofs and stacks to party walls. Dormers to nos 55 and 59; C20 extension to side of no 59.
