Description

These are terraced houses located at 55, 57, and 59 Canonbury Park North, built between 1841 and 1843 and developed by C.H. Hill. They are constructed of yellow brick and stucco, with a slate roof. The central block, number 57, is three storeys high and three bays wide, while numbers 55 and 59 are two storeys high with two bays facing the street and side porches that are set back. The basement is stuccoed, and number 57 features steps leading up to a central entrance adorned with pilasters, an entablature, and a cornice on consoles, along with a panelled door and overlight.

The windows are flat-arched with stucco architraves on either side and on the two upper storeys. Numbers 55 and 59 have round-arched windows on the ground floor with architraves and flat-arched windows on the first floor. The side porches have steps leading up, featuring pilasters, entablatures, and overlights, with number 59 retaining its original panelled door. Both porches have been rebuilt to two storeys. There is a stucco band between the ground and first floors, and a cornice with brackets at the boxed eaves. The roofs are hipped, with stacks at the party walls, and dormers on numbers 55 and 59. There is a 20th-century extension on the side of number 59. The houses are included for their group value.
