Terraced town houses. c.1776-88, forming north east side of the Duke of Manchester's development of the square on Portman Estate land. Brown brick, with stuccoed ground floors to 23 to 25; concealed slate roofs. 5 storeys and basements. 4 windows wide, except No. 25 which has 2 windows to square and 5-window return to Hinde Street. Square headed doorways off-centre; panelled doors and fanlights in architraves with half pilasters and cornices; No. 22 has Doric porch; No. 25 has entrance in return, semicircular arched with panelled pilaster jambs and side lights, in rusticated stucco surround with cornice. Recessed sashes, under flat gauged arches. Plat bands and stucco cornices over 2nd floors. Stone or stucco coped parapets. Original, 1st floor, cast iron, geometric patterned balconies. Cast iron area railings with flambé torch or urn finials.
