Description

No. 12, Hinde Street is a terraced town house, dating from approximately 1800 and built as part of the Portman Estate development on the east approach to Manchester Square. The building was altered in the mid-20th century and is now used as flats with a shop.

The house is constructed of stucco, with a concealed slate roof. It has five storeys and a basement, and is three windows wide. A two-window, full-height, segmental bow window dominates the left-hand side. The shop front is a mid-20th century neo-Georgian design, featuring a bracketed fascia and a segmental bowed display window. The upper floors have square-headed recessed sash windows, most of which retain their original glazing bars. A plain sill band, originally matching that of the adjacent No. 11, runs across the third floor. The building is topped with a stone cornice.

The interior has been altered to accommodate flats. The building is included in the register primarily for its group value.
