Description
The forecourt walls, gate piers, and railings to Hertford House were constructed around 1872 to 1882 as part of alterations made by Sir Richard Wallace. They are made of red brick with stone dressings and cast iron. The flank walls feature buttress piers and end in square piers topped with large, ornate vases decorated with trophies and goat heads, designed in the Louis XV style. The gate piers have urn finials, and there are spearhead foot gates and carriage gates with crown finials on the standards, which flank the railings.
