Description

TQ 2881 NW CITY OF WESTMINSTER DUKE STREET, Wl 55/34 10.9.54 No. lA G.V. II Corner terraced town house with elevation to Manchester Square. c.1776-88 as part of the Duke of Manchester's development. Brown brick with channelled stucco ground floor; concealed slate roof. 4 storeys and basement. 4 windows wide (2 blind) and with 3-window return to Manchester Square. Doorway in 2nd bay from right, square headed with panelled door and patterned fanlight. Ground floor windows to right adapted as shop display windows. Upper floors have recessed sashes to right and blind windows to left, under flat gauged arches. Manchester Square front has recessed glazing bar sashes under flat gauged arches and plat bands to 1st and 2nd floors, cornice over 2nd floor and stone coped parapet; original 1st floor, cast iron, geometric patterned balcony. Only the 1st floor plat band is returned to Duke Street front which is finished off with stone coped parapet. Cast iron area railings with urn finials.
