Description

No. 28 is a terraced house located on Upper Montagu Street, built around 1810-1820 as part of J.T. Parkinson's Montagu Square Portman Estate development. The building features stock brick with a channelled stucco ground floor. To the right, there is a semicircular arched doorway with a later door set in original reeded jambs, topped by a reeded head and a radial patterned fanlight. The upper floors have recessed glazing bar sashes beneath flat gauged arches. A plat band finishes the stuccowork at the first floor level, and there is a parapet with stone coping. The first-floor windows are adorned with cast iron balconettes, and the area is enclosed by cast iron railings with urn finials.
