Description

This is a terraced town house located on York Street in the City of Westminster, built around 1810 to 1820 as part of the Portman Estate development. The building is constructed of stock brick with a stuccoed ground floor, and has a concealed slate roof. It is four storeys high with a basement and three windows wide. The right-hand side features a segmental arched doorway with a panelled door, moulded jambs, a head, and a patterned fanlight. The upper floors contain recessed sash windows with glazing bars, set under flat, gauged arches. Stuccowork finishes the façade with a plat band at the first floor level, and a crowning stucco cornice and blocking course are present. A continuous, cast iron balcony of geometric patterned design runs across the front of the first floor. Cast iron area railings with urn finials complete the street elevation.
