Description

This is a terraced house built around 1810 to 1820 as part of the Portman Estate development, similar in design to numbers 39 to 43 York Street. The exterior is of stock brick with a channelled stucco ground floor; it has a concealed slate roof. The house is four storeys high with a basement, and two windows wide. A semicircular arched doorway is on the left-hand side, with a panelled door featuring reeded jambs and head, and a patterned fanlight above. The upper floors contain recessed sash windows with glazing bars, set within flat, gauged arches. Stuccowork defines a plat band at the first floor level. A parapet with coping sits atop the building. A cast iron balcony with geometric patterning, balusters, and standards runs across the first floor. The area railings are also made of cast iron, and are topped with urn finials.
