Description

A pair of terraced houses with shops, built around 1811 to 1823 as part of John Parkinson’s development of Montagu and Bryanston Squares. The buildings are constructed of stock brick, with concealed slate roofs. They stand four storeys high and each is two windows wide. The shop front of number 14 has been altered. Number 15 retains its original shop front, featuring an entablature fascia. To the right of the shop front is a semicircular arched entrance to the house, with a panelled door, a fluted doorhead, and a fanlight above. The windows are recessed sash windows with glazing bars, set within flat, gauged red brick arches. The buildings have stone-coped parapets, which have been rebuilt at number 15. Cast iron balconettes are present on the first floor of number 15. The buildings are included on the list for their contribution to the group value of the area.
