Description

This building is a corner terraced town house with a shop, dating from around 1790, part of the Portman Estate development. It is constructed of stock brick, featuring a channelled stucco ground floor on Blandford Street. The structure has four storeys and a basement, with two windows wide on Baker Street and a five-window wide return to Blandford Street.

The shop front on Baker Street is from the mid-20th century, while the original entrance to the house is centrally located on the return. This entrance is semicircular arched and includes a panelled door set in pilaster jambs, flanked by trellised sidelights, topped with a fluted doorhead and a patterned fanlight, and features a vermiculated Coade keystone. The windows are recessed sashes under flat gauged red brick arches. A plateband finishes the stuccowork at the first floor level, and there is a parapet with stone coping. The property also has cast iron area railings with urn finials.

Inside, the building retains a D plan staircase with a slender balustrade, which is illuminated by an original domed skylight.
