Description

A row of terraced houses at 27-34 Leinster Square, dating from the 1850s. The houses are constructed of stucco, with a hidden roof. They extend over four storeys, plus an attic and basement. Each house has two windows across its facade. The end pairs of houses are slightly recessed and feature rusticated quoins. The ground floor is channelled, and there are projecting Ionic porches. A continuous bombé balcony runs across the first floor. The ground and third floor windows are square-headed, while the first floor windows have rounded upper corners and are flanked by Corinthian half columns. The second floor windows have segmental heads. The windows are sash windows with plate glass. A cornice above the third floor has a rich acanthus frieze, and arched attic windows are topped by a subsidiary cornice. Cast iron area railings are present. A return wall is visible to the left. The houses form an integral part of a larger, planned development.
