Description

No. 37, Princes Square is a terraced house dating from the 1850s, and part of the planned scheme for Princes Square. It is constructed of stucco, with a visible basement and four storeys plus an attic. The house has a two-window front. Rusticated quoins are present, and the ground floor features channelling. A projecting Ionic porch provides entrance. A continuous balcony runs across the first floor. The ground and third floor windows are square-headed. First-floor windows have rounded upper corners and are flanked by Corinthian half columns. Second-floor windows are segmental headed. The windows are sash windows with plate glass. A cornice above the third floor incorporates a rich acanthus frieze, and subsidiary windows are fitted within an arched attic window. A secondary cornice runs along the top. Cast iron area railings are present. The return to the left-hand side is also visible.
