Description

This is a terraced house dating from the 1850s, located on the south side of Princes Square in the City of Westminster. It is built of stucco, with the roof hidden from view. The building is four storeys high, with an attic and basement, and has a facade two windows wide. The corners are rusticated, and the ground floor is channelled. A projecting Ionic porch provides entrance. A continuous, bombé balcony runs along the first floor; the ground and third floors feature square-headed windows. The first-floor windows have rounded upper corners and are flanked by Corinthian half columns. Second-floor windows are recessed beneath segmental arches. The windows are sash windows with plate glass. A substantial cornice sits above the third floor, incorporating a rich acanthus frieze. Arched windows are present in the attic, with a subsidiary cornice above them. The property has cast iron area railings. The house forms an integral part of the planned layout of Princes Square.
