Description

The properties at 38 and 40 Monmouth Road are a pair of semi-detached houses, dating from around 1850. They are constructed of brick and stucco, with a roof that is not visible. The houses are three storeys high and have a basement. Each house has two main bays, treated as full-height convex bay windows, with recessed entrance bays to either side of the pair. The entrances are accessed via panelled doors. The ground floor features channelling. The windows are square-headed with architraves and cornices to the first floor, and gauged heads to the second floor; they are sash windows with glazing bars. A cornice sits above the second floor. A balcony is present on the first floor. The buildings have group value.
