Description

Nos 30 and 32, Monmouth Road are a pair of semi-detached houses dating to circa 1850. They are constructed of brick, with stucco detailing. The houses are three storeys high, with a basement, and retain their original roofline, which is not visible. Each house features two main bays, each treated as a full-height convex bay window, with a recessed entrance bay to either side. No. 30 has an additional two-storey, two-bay bow window to its right. The houses have panelled doors, channelling to the ground floor, and square-headed windows with architraves and cornices to the first floor, and gauged heads to the second floor. These windows are sash windows with glazing bars. A cornice sits above the second floor, and there is a first-floor balcony. The group value of these houses lies in their well-preserved architectural details and contribution to the streetscape.
