Description
Nos 17 to 21 on Folgate Street, built in the early 18th century, are constructed of stock brick with red brick window dressings and feature coped parapets. The ground floor is finished in stucco. No 17 has three storeys with flush gauged window arches, although the top floor arches are now rendered. There is a brick band above the first floor, and the ground floor contains a shop. Nos 19 and 21 are four storeys high, with segmental arches over the first floor windows and gauged flat arches on the second and third floors. They have double hung sashes in flush frames, some of which retain glazing bars, and a brick band above the second floor. The ground floor of No 19 has been altered with office windows, while No 21 was modified around 1800 to include a wide canted bay with two windows and an entablature featuring a dentil cornice. The door of No 21 is flanked by panelled pilasters and has a plain fanlight. These buildings are part of a group that includes Nos 5 to 11 (odd), 11A, 27, and Nos 6 to 18 (even) on Folgate Street.
