Description
The street lamp affixed to the wall of No 26 Elder Street is a notable feature dating from around 1720. The building itself has a facade that has been rebuilt and is constructed of stock brick with red brick dressings. It stands three storeys high, with a dormer and two windows. The parapet is present, and the windows feature segmental arches with double hung sashes, flush frames, cambered head linings, and glazing bars. The wooden doorcase includes panelled reveals, an architrave, and shallow brackets. The wrought iron street lamp is mounted on the wall and has an ornamental bracket. This street lamp, along with the surrounding buildings on Elder Street, contributes to the group value of the area.
