Description
Nos 5 and 7 Elder Street, dating from around 1720, are two brown brick buildings with red brick dressings. They stand three storeys tall, with a basement and attic, and feature a parapet. The buildings have gauged flat arches above double hung sash windows, most of which have flush frames and glazing bars. There are additional blank windows on the first and second floors. No 7 includes curved wrought iron guards on its basement windows. The layout of the buildings is a single room deep with a newel stair, reflecting a medieval plan type survival. These properties, along with Nos 1 to 23 (odd) and Nos 24 to 36 (even) on Elder Street, form a group with Nos 9 and 10 and the road surface of Fleur de Lys Street.
