Description
The former Police Station, built between 1874 and 1875 and designed by architect F H Cougier, is located on Commercial Street in London. This three-storey building with an attic is constructed of red brick and features stone dressings. The ground floor has channelled masonry panels beneath the windows. The façade consists of 11 bays, with the end windows arranged in pairs. The windows are sashes with glazing bars, and there is a string course running along the building. The central doorway is framed by rusticated pilasters and has an advanced cornice that forms a hood above. The door is panelled and topped with a radial fanlight. This building is part of a group that includes No 142 (The Commercial Public House) and Nos 144 to 146 opposite.
