Description
No 36 on Elder Street, dating from around 1720, is a three-storey building with a basement and a wide dormer in a slate mansard roof. It is constructed of brown brick with red brick dressings and features five windows with double hung sashes in flush frames, set in segmental arches. The entrance is marked by a wooden Doric doorcase that has panelled reveals, plain attached columns with simple foliated caps, triglyphs, and an open pediment added in 1780. A round-headed patterned fanlight is situated above the door. The return elevation on Folgate Street has two windows, with some being blank on each floor. This building is part of a group with Nos 1 to 23 (odd) and Nos 24 to 36 (even) on Elder Street, along with Nos 9 and 10, contributing to the character of the road surface of Fleur de Lys Street.
