Description

This is an early to mid-19th century pair of houses, numbered 29 and 31, located on the south side of Groveway. Each house is three storeys high with a basement, and features a single window in the main block, accompanied by a set-back two-storey entrance bay. The houses are constructed of stock brick, with an incised stucco basement. They have a low-pitched, hipped slate roof with deep eaves soffits. The windows are sash windows, predominantly with glazing bars, and are tripartite on the ground floor. Moulded architraves are present on the upper floors, and modified pedimented entablatures sit below. A seven-step approach leads to a half-glazed four-panel door, set back within an enclosed, stuccoed, classical angle porch.
