Description

10-16 Ripplevale Grove consists of three single houses, built between 1839 and 1841, which have been linked and adapted into four houses. They are constructed of yellow brick in Flemish bond with stucco dressings and have slate roofs. Originally, each house featured three windows and was double-fronted. However, numbers 10 and 12 now have four windows each due to the addition of one bay, while numbers 14 and 16 have two windows each from a similar addition and subdivision.

The round-arched entrance is adorned with Roman Doric columns, a fanlight with decorative glazing, and a panelled door that retains its original design. The ground-floor windows are round-arched with gauged brick heads, while the first-floor windows are flat-arched and have a stucco sill band. The houses have hipped roofs and side stacks.

Notable features include: number 10, which has a newly carved panel over the entrance reading 'ISLEDON COTTAGE', original design sashes on the ground floor, and a two-storey bay added to the right; number 12, which also has original design sashes and a two-storey bay added to the right; and the original third house, which now has a two-storey bay to the right with a replica entrance to number 14, along with original design sashes on number 16.
