Description
No. 8 Ripplevale Grove is a linked villa that was originally two semi-detached villas, built between 1839 and 1841. The building is constructed from yellow stock bricks arranged in Flemish bond, with stucco dressings. The roof is obscured by a parapet and a blocking course, with a brick stack situated between the first and second bays on the right side. The villa has a side-hall entrance plan and stands two storeys high with a basement, featuring a four-window range. The two central bays project outward.
The windows have gauged brick flat arches and are 6/6 sashes, except for the entrance and the central bays on the ground floor, which have round-arched windows with curved Gothic-style glazing bars. The doorway is framed by fluted Doric columns and features a panelled door with a patterned fanlight above. There is a stucco sill band at the first floor level of the projecting bays, along with a plain stucco frieze, a projecting cornice, and a blocking course. The centre of the parapet is shaped and flanked by console brackets adorned with rosettes.
