Description
19 and 21 Ripplevale Grove are semi-detached villas built between 1839 and 1841. They are constructed from yellow stock brick laid in Flemish bond, with stucco dressings and roofs made of Welsh slate featuring projecting eaves and central brick stacks. The entrance to no. 19 is located on the side, while no. 21 has a central entrance. Both buildings are two storeys high with a basement; no. 19 has a two-window range with a recessed outer entrance bay, and no. 21 has a three-window range with a one-bay extension to the right. A full-height stucco reveal marks the division between the two properties. Steps lead up to the doorways, which are adorned with Roman Doric columns supporting cornice-heads, and feature four-panelled doors with patterned fanlights. The ground floor has gauged brick round arches above 6/6 sash windows, which include curved and radial glazing bars and margin lights. No. 19 also has a cast-iron window guard in Rococo style. The first floor features a sill band for the 6/6 sashes, with gauged brick flat arches above.
