Description

The building comprises two semi-detached villas, numbers 10 and 12 Belitha Villas, constructed around 1845 in Islington. The construction utilizes yellow and brown stock bricks laid in a Flemish bond pattern, with stucco dressings and a Welsh-slate hipped roof featuring overhanging eaves and centre stacks. The design incorporates a side-hall entrance plan with a staircase. The villas are two storeys high, with a basement and attic, each having two windows, with a narrower, one-window recessed entrance bay. Three-storey full-height brick pilasters define the inner bay. Steps lead to a prostyle Ionic portico in the outer bay, which features a doorway with pilaster jambs supporting a corniced head. The doorway retains its original two-panelled door and rectangular over-light. Sashes are set within gauged brick flat arches. The ground-floor windows are 2/2 sashes with margin lights, set in gauged-brick, elliptical-arched recesses linked by a stucco impost band. Stucco sill bands are present on the upper storeys. The first floor has full-length 6/6 sashes, while the attic windows consist of 6/6 sashes in the entrance bay and 4/8 sashes in the inner bay. A boxed cornice tops the building.
